About Elliott

Elliott Magen is a Sydney-based Film Editor and Executive Producer working on Cameraygal land. With a passion for socially conscious storytelling, he specialises in editing across documentary, drama, and multi-screen video art installations - often working on projects that challenge traditional narrative forms.

Elliott most recently served as Editor and Executive Producer on MAKE IT LOOK REAL (Dir: Kate Blackmore, 2024), a feature documentary that exemplifies his commitment to bold, innovative filmmaking. His other documentary credits include THE AUSTRALIAN WARS – Episode 3 (Dir: Rachel Perkins, 2022), which won the 2024 AACTA Award for Best Documentary or Factual Program. He also edited IT ALL STARTED WITH A STALE SANDWICH (Dir: Samantha Lang, 2019), SERVANT OR SLAVE (Dir: Steven McGregor, 2016), and THE GLASS BEDROOM (Dir: Kate Blackmore, 2017), for which he won the 2017 Australian Screen Editors’ Digistor Award for Best Editing in Open Content.

In the video art world, Elliott has collaborated with leading contemporary artists including Jonathan Jones, Deborah Kelly, and Lynette Wallworth. Notably, he worked on Wallworth’s immersive full-dome film CORAL: REKINDLING VENUS, which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. In 2025, he worked with artist ANOHNI on her MOURNING THE GREAT BARRIER REEF film that screened as part of the performance at the Sydney Opera House.

His drama credits include the 2022 AACTA Award-winning short FINDING JEDDA (Dir: Tanith Glynn-Maloney, 2021), and WE CIRCLE SILENTLY (Dir: Kate Blackmore, 2023), which was selected for the 2023 Sydney Film Festival.
